Citizens First Bank Celebrates 25 Years of Community Banking Excellence

Clinton, Iowa — Citizens First Bank (CFB) is thrilled to announce its 25th anniversary in 2025, marking a significant milestone in its journey as a cornerstone of community banking in the Gateway Area. Since its founding in March 2000, CFB has remained dedicated to its mission of putting customers first, fostering innovation, and delivering exceptional financial services.

Founded by local business leaders seeking a locally driven approach to banking, Citizens First Bank started as a de novo bank with a new charter from the FDIC. Over the past quarter-century, the bank has expanded to three branches, four ATMs, and grown its team from just 14 employees to an impressive 55.

“Our tagline, Banking as it Should Be, reflects our unwavering commitment to providing innovative solutions, advanced technology, and personalized support that meets the evolving needs of our customers,” said Stephen Clements, President & CEO, Citizens First Bank.

Highlights from Citizens First Bank’s history include:

  • Launching Iowa’s first mobile bank for business customers in 2001.  The mobile courier service remains a unique part of the business today.
  • Receiving the Clinton Regional Development Association Innovation Award in 2020 for its progressive approach to community banking.
  • Growing to serve Clinton and Camanche with expanded locations and services, including a digital branch that meets customers’ needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

CFB credits its success to its dedication to the local community, prioritizing customer satisfaction, and operating as a truly local bank with deep roots in the region.

The bank invites the community to celebrate this milestone at an Open House on Friday, March 14, 2025, during lobby hours at the 1442 Lincoln Way location. Join us in reflecting on 25 years of success and looking ahead to an even brighter future.
