CITIZENS FIRST BANK AND ADM CONTRIBUTE AMERICAN FLAGS TO CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL

In May 2021, Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law House File 847, which requires the display of the American flag and daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in all Iowa public schools.

This action presented a challenge to students at Clinton High School who have class in the school’s weight room when the Pledge of Allegiance comes over the PA every day. The weight room lacked an American flag. Luckily, Clinton High School is home to the robust STEM-based program, Synergy. The Synergy students identified the flag challenge and said, “Challenge accepted!”

Synergy started by reaching out to the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce. Their request was to be put in touch with businesses or organizations willing to donate a large flag to the CHS weight room. When asked if the high school could use new American flags for each room, the answer was a resounding, “YES!!” The final count for needed flags was 41 for the classrooms and 1 larger flag for the weight room.

The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce put the word out and within less than one day, Citizens First Bank and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) stepped in to fill the entire flag request!

The phenomenal response from Citizens First Bank and ADM is just one example of how both businesses genuinely care about the people in Clinton, Iowa, and specifically, the importance they place on the youth in our community. THANK YOU, CITIZENS FIRST BANK AND ADM for listening to our students and for your generous and very meaningful gift of American flags. Whenever our residents have occasion to visit Clinton High School, your kindness and commitment to our community will be on full display.

Also, WELL DONE Synergy students! Clinton High School can be extremely proud of having a program with students who initiate positive change and follow up with meaningful problem-solving skills.
